Journal jzu's Journal: Flat Rate Online Music Distribution

Here's a translation in English of a paper I wrote about a new music distribution system, combining flat rate, no DRM but user-id tagging, and a centralized distribution mechanism. Its main points are
  • Flat rate is a convenient and straightforward purchasing model.
  • Personalization of downloaded contents secures them to a certain extent by making consumers responsible.
  • Revenue sharing is possible provided that downloads are centralized and recorded at an intermediary level.

We all know there's a problem with music distribution today - I'm a musician an an engineer, so I had to scratch this particular itch. Now, implementation would obviously face a few, um, difficulties, but sometimes you just have to ask "What if...?"
