Journal by mstahl

According to an article in Scientific American, two new Mersenne Primes (prime numbers that are one less than an exponent of two) have been found! The search, powered by the Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search (GIMPS) even netted one prime that may qualify for the EFF's $100,000 prize for finding a Mersenne prime with more than 10 million digits. The previous Mersenne prime discovered fell just short at 9,808,358 digits.
