divbyzero's Journal: Premature archiving of threads

Wow, I find it really frustrating how quickly threads are archived on Slashdot. Often, I find that there are open questions in responses to my posts, which I don't have time to answer before the thread is archived and no more comments are allowed. I understand the need for archiving both as a way to put flame wars to rest, and as a performance optimization for the system, but I wish there was a way around this problem.
