The fat lady is singing for Vista as hype builds for Workstation 2008.

So long, Vista, we hardly knew you.

The praise, of course, is relative. Saying something is faster and friendlier than Vista is like picking champion toxic slugs to get you from A to B. The new OS still gobbles up 4GB of RAM, is only 20% faster than Vista and runs "most" of the software Vista does. It lacks a Media Center, so the performance increment is probably due to less DRM. Users are still better off with any modern GNU/Linux distribution.
