Journal OldHawk777's Journal: Do you think, Troll/Flame... negative points are a waste? 3

I do not issue Troll/Flame... negative points, do you ... why?

Sometimes on /. those with privilege points rate me troll/flame ....

Reality on /. frequently troll indicates rejection of concept/idea.
It is like the flawed logic of saying "god is dead" ....

The real troll (on /., I think) is wasting a point that could be
use on promoting the better/important comments of others. Troll
pointing to reject any ideas/facts is fascist/dogmatic/silly.

A point wasted is always the real troll (on /.), because no points
would provide more negative impact than any troll or flame points.
Those who enjoy wasting points with negatives, PLEASE, give me more.
I will not be offended, negative points are frequently compliments
promoting my/others views.

Note: On /. users can set their point filters for or against troll/funny....

If you don't understand the above note, and don't understand that negative
points are a two edge sword, well !HAVEFUN!.

Do you think, Troll/Flame... negative points are a waste?

Comments Filter:
  • It decreases my opportunities to encourage, praise and acclaim.
  • I don't get mod points all that often, but I avoid negative mods as much as possible. The only times i will use them is if something is, to me, abusively flamebait. The type of comment that is directed towards another /. user and is nothing but vicious slurs. I've only seen it a time or two, but I will downmod that. The other time I'll downmod is if i know a subject very well, such as legal matters or aviation, and I see someone getting up mods who is flat out factually wrong, and is obviously trolling.
  • I don't down-mod that often. Not worth it, generally, and I could do without the ability to downmod. I would like the cap on up-mods to be raised though (to say, 10 or so) so that there is more granularity in the moderators overall reaction to posts.

I just read a book (fiction) with that title ("god is dead") this last week. It was good.
