Evidently, the position that the Dems are marginally better than the Republicans is actually *trolling*, and two moderators have modded it as such. Is it Republican or Democratic partisans whom I am supposedly trolling for flames?

Anytime one suggests re-examination of an apparent doctrinally-held belief, one is a troll - to do so reasonably, well, "a double-dumb-troll on you!" - anything to avoid being dragged/forced to expend the effort of careful thought. At least, that's the way it appears for some...

How so? Was I insulting or rude or derogatory?

  I was responding on topic to the parent comment - if merely raising the topic is trolling, shouldn't he be the one getting downmodded (he was modded +2 Insightful, +1 Underrated).

  To an extent, any political position whatsoever is flamebait, but the story itself is *about* a congressional hearing. It's impossible to discuss cogently without taking a position.

Well, your choice of words could be construed by any sane person as flamebait. But not trolling.

It's your phrasing, IMHO, that caused them to Troll you, since they know more people downmod trolls and are less likely to read troll posts, whereas they might read flamebait posts ... I think I have trolls at -1 but flamebait at +0 myself, since I don't often agree with flamebait mods but do agree with most troll mods.

I'd have metamodded any troll rankings as Unfair, but have agreed with a flamebait ranking as F
