Journal PhetusPolice's Journal: WikiGov'T

While I was fantasizing about being President of the USA, I imagined an idea that I'd like to share. The people of America can probably agree that they feel a lack of connection to their government, being the victims of scandals and red tape.

What if the federal government hosted a site that empowered the people? Modeled after sites like slashdot and wikipedia, every citizen can post and respond to articles and actions of the government into a forum, offering constructive criticism and insight towards each other and their gov't. Approval ratings could have a direct effect on their representatives, as if they are not heard, the representative could suffer consequences. However, I'm not a designer, only a theorist.

Do you think this could work? If so, how would you construct this site for the people? Personally, I'd have moderators like here on /., including voting polls and representative profiles on alongside of the forums.
