Journal Praedon's Journal: Why The Firehose needs more work... 2

I think the firehose requires a LOT More work, before it can be considered a reliable means of judging stories. My Ask Slashdot question was in there right? And I was in the Green, and almost ready to go to Yellow, then it is gone!! Later, I realized, that it only shows entries from the past 24 hours and filters out the rest. I think if the color is blue or less, it should be affected by that filter of 24 hours and such, not when it is in the green, and ALMOST ready to make it to yellow. That is my two cents.

  • Personally, if you're posting an Ask Slashdot, you should do it as a Journal entry. That way even if it doesn't get picked up for the front page, you'll have a chance to get some responses. I've seen too many Ask Slashdots go by that I would provide an answer or at least some points for discussion if they were Journals but did not think them worthy of a nod (often because the question made a bad assumption I could easily address in a Journal).

That is a good point. My Ask Slashdot though, was more of an exclusive thing for the Slashdot community as a whole to participate in, in regards to the Social Networking site for Geeks at Geekalize.com [geekalize.com] Cause I wanted to pick the brains of everyone in regards to what would be encouraging enough to join, what would set some good standards to Social Networking, that others have set so low, and so on.
