i know what happened. someone, against my almost constant preaching, pleading, harassing and begging, decided to deploy site.properties from their local machine to the dev machine.
this makes the dev machine a sad panda

The appropriate punishment (yeah, right) is to call a meeting and have the person who did it try to figure out what happened in front of the group. Grill him on how he thought it was "supposed" to work and them show him reality. When the group turns on him to feed call a 5 minute break.

I would *want* to lock the offender off of any dev access for 3d6 time periods. The only problem with this (especially where I work) is that not only would such an action probably get me fired, but the offender would likely see it as an excuse to take a vacation.
