Journal Red Warrior's Journal: So there I was, no shit, in Dallas... 11

Good flight. This was the first time I did online boarding pass and online check-in at the hotel. Both rock.

Met Johndiii. He didn't compose a sonnet to my eyes, but did (notionally) pinch my butt. Had dinner at a nice Mexican place. Watched the very happy girls night out crowd behind Johndiii. :-) Went to a Starbucks, talked about divorces, and life lessons, which morphed to politics.

A very nice gentleman, and much like I imagined. With luck, I hope to have free time to get together again before I return to the Land of Ice and Snow.

One to grow on: If you decide to haul your laptop halfway across the country on the spur of the moment, decide to haul its power cord as well... (16 min power remaining...)

I KNEW I was forgetting something this morning.

'nite all.

So there I was, no shit, in Dallas...

  • Margarita Ranch is good Tex-Mex. The salsa has that good smoky flavor, and the bacon-wrapped shrimp are very good.

And being across the freeway from SMU does have an effect on the demographics of the clientele. :-) Very good tactics on the choice of seats, by the way.

He can pull that off anywhere.
    • We'll be done Sunday at about 11:30. So I should have an hour or so before needing to get to the airport. :-)
      • That might work. The drive to the airport isn't too bad. Unless the ice gets really bad Saturday night, in which case you may end up staying longer. :-) Dallas does not cope well with frozen precipitation. It's not a problem for me (I learned to drive in snow and ice), but the native drivers mostly do not handle it very well.
  • YAY for butt pinches!! "Notional" and otherwise.

Someday I'm bound, set, and determined to do my OWN pinchin', though!!

    • In Dallas. That way you'll have both computer power and shit.

You forgot to mention that you'll be here all week. :-)

My problem of late has been that the toothbrush gets switched on while it's in my suitcase, so that the battery is dead at the other end. I usually don't bother bringing the charger because it should run at least a week on a charge...grr. I need to put together some sort of "switch guard" to keep the toothbrush from getting switched on. (Some rubber bands and a chunk out of a 35mm fil

  • Please leave the crap weather at home.
Or bring a hockey stick. [slashdot.org]
All joking aside, I hope your flight out doesn't get cancelled.
    • Thanks. :-)
Delayed an hour (got on the plane right as they went into OT, but before the Seahawks failed it), but it somehow made the time up in the air. :-) Got in 15 minutes off original schedule.

Didn't realize you were in Texas. Dang. If you are in the Dallas area, we could have done the meetup thing.

      BTW,
      1. We don't get ice storms :-) I mean, WTF is up with that?
      2. It's called "salt" you put it on the "roads". In a pinch, "gravel" is better than "wishes" :-P

It is easier to write an incorrect program than understand a correct one.
