Christmas Cheer

Journal SiliconJesus's Journal: Phat Lewt 4

My uncle didn't make it out to my house this year (he's fighting the same bug as everyone else). With everyone sick (and my son now has a 101 fever... again), it was different. It was shorter than normal as everyone was not quite 100%. We all had fun, took a lot of turns playing Wii. Many games of bowling were played.

Speaking of the Wii, I got 5 games to play over the next few months:
- Excite Truck
- Super Monkey Ball
- GT Pro Series (w/ Steering wheel thingie)
- Rayman Raving Rabbids
- Need for Speed Carbon

Got a few Alton Brown things (I'm currently wearing my "Science: Its what's for dinner" T-shirt). Got a few small things from my parents (they bought us tires for the Magnum last month for "X-mas"). My wife was surprised by the diamond earrings I bought her. My son seems to enjoy the Thomas trains he got as well as the tool set.

  • Joey has a good deal, but I was surprised he was missing Percy, so he got that for Christmas... he also wanted mighty mac, but this year was the 'cars' year, as toys from that movie is what he really wanted...

There was another, but for the life of me, I can't remember the name. We also got Zach the roundhouse and lazy susan table.
  • I'd be interested in your thoughts on Excite Truck and GT Pro Series. (GT is already available here and I'm thinking of picking it up next week, but Excite Truck isn't coming out here for a while.)

I haven't had enough time to get any serious play-time in with the Wii, but what I have seen so far, Super Monkey Ball is a lot of fun and Rayman Raving Rabbids is even more so! I had some trouble adjusting to the controls for Need For Speed: Carbon. I haven't tried a steering wheel holder for the Wiimote with NFS
    • GT Pro is kinda... loose. Its done in the style of Jet Set Radio / Viewtiful Joe where the cars are all cell shaded. Its not a particularly compelling game if you've played the Gran Turismo series. For now, its one of the most realistic racers out there. It irritates me, as you can start out with a lot of REALLY fast cars instead of starting with little resources and working your way up. The early cars (such as a Lancer Evolution VIII) are way to advanced to start with. Only by going back to a low end
