Chacham's Journal: Troll: five things that affect the quality of /. comments

Well, another day, another troll, but this was pathetic attempt. On the heels of an erstwhile success, i decided to try again.

I saw in the Myterious (say it like Xellos would) Future the story How To Choose Archival CD/DVD Media, and it had the comment "Unlike pressed CDs/DVDs, 'burnt' CDs/DVDs can eventually 'fade,' due to five things that affect the quality of CD media:". Perfect! "burnt", "five things", "fade" it was begging to be trolled. It was just a matter of writing it before it went live live.

So, i opened notepad, wrote this and that, until i realized that it wasn't going to work. Although i had a basic idea of what to write, the details didn't come in, and i wasn't spending enough time (or concentration) on it. So, i quickly hacked it together, waiting for it to die, and posted it here.

I can't believe it. I got first post. Within a minute or so, at least two others appeared, and i was modded down as troll. Heh. I posted at +1, so i figured it was DoA.

Anyway, i checked my messages just now, and got my mod report. There are two comments (too low for me to read at +1) but sixteen moderations. I think that's a record for me, and it doens't look like it's over yet.

I counted 9 down-mods and 0 (that count) up-mods in that tally. Be careful, I seem to have gotten temporarily banned [slashdot.org] once for a highly down-modded post.

p.s. BTW, you just haven't hit the big leagues of ticking off Slashdotters until you've evoked the famous "geez, who pissed in your Cheerios?" response. That's when you'll know you've arrived.
