Maybe it's just my quirky sense of humor and my ability to see humor in almost anything, but the first part of this article, linked from MarketWatch.com, had me laughing.

I guess it's the juxtaposition of the comments by the writer coupled with the two pretty graphs that had me laughing.

But then again, maybe it's just me.

I love part 5 - Crowds and WikiPower.

They actually expect professionals to freely contribute and then they make money off of it without giving them a dime? I almost feel like starting a little group to secretly poison the content with all sorts of wacky yet plausible sounding ideas. Once the book is released, paste the story out everywhere.

That might be a little too, I don't know...crazy? Actually, according to their FAQ [wearesmarter.org], the contributors to the wiki will be considered authors, and will get a royalty

i could see people doing it for the publicity - and if they carefully choose the submissions they allow, it could be a really great book. the idea of comparing wiki's to those various historical events is hilarious, but like a lot of comedy, not really a fair or accurate comparison. the whole thing is pretty stinkin' funny.
