theskeptic's Journal: Steve Irwin, RIP

It was afternoon when I first saw this news on google. It was so devastating to hear this news, it didn't sink in at first. Even now, it hasn't really sunk in. Not sure if it ever will.

He single handedly made animals, perceived wild and dangerous in their natural habitats accessible and humane to all of us. Attenborough is of a different league. His videos are amazing, yet they lack the human touch, actually handling the animals. Irwin's numerous programs reinforced the respect he brought animals in the wild. The wild has lost one of its best spokesmen.

I sincerely hope the australia zoo sets up a conservation fund in his name to continue his work. God give strength to his family.
