    • Heh, never really did like that Mr. Wilson character.

Thanks for the charts. They were perfect, the article is stupid and typically partisan, trying to single out individuals and one particular faction like you do. There is still nothing to force people to reelect the politician. And, if you notice, the serious increase began in the 1870s. In fact the climb was steady throughout, it really only dipped briefly near the civil war(well, actually it seemed to begin in the 1820s(what was happening then?), but sti

      • Except that that isn't it just a teeny bit specious to compare pre-17th Amendment retention levels? Especially since the contemporaneous Federal Reserve Act opened up the door to have DC start bribing the people with their own money? The National Debt Road Trip [youtube.com] is highly relevant.
I understand that you're committed to saying "same as it ever was", and it's true that the difference is more of degree than kind.
I also understand that you view trying to reform the GOP as sort of giving the scorpion a lift acro
        • You think the butler can change the world. Well, maybe he can, but he's still the butler. You simply have the wrong guy.

100% of the voters agree with you, and want to keep playing the game, there is not a single independent in the house. They do the ritual for its own sake.

You really did win the internet. I'm tired. Gotta cigarette?

          • You think the butler can change the world.

            You are so completely wrong.
            (a) The world is outside the scope of changeable
            (b) A lone butler is irrelevant
            (c) What's needful is that individuals mature, and the government be limited, and dis-empowered to keep people in butler status.

            • The world is outside the scope of changeable

              As pudge would say, "false".

              A lone butler is irrelevant

Yet that's exactly who you are harping on.

And wake me up when you are ready to apply your respect to all individuals.

All your contradictions have been covered, and you keep on coming back repeating them word for word. You can collect your prize in the lobby. I'm off...

As in the planet Earth? You can anthropomorphize it to your heart's content, but so what?

                A lone butler is irrelevant

Yet that's exactly who you are harping on.

Who's this butler, and what tune plucked I, after he was strung?

And wake me up when you are ready to apply your respect to all individuals.

All individuals are worthy of respect as the children of God, even the little Down's kid at my AWANAs club.
Not all lousy ideas in the heads of individuals are worthy of respect, or cheap attempts at conflating individuals and ideas.

All your contradictions have been covered, and you keep on coming back repeating them word for word. You can collect your prize in the lobby. I'm off...

You're still the man, though. So ya got that goin' for ya. . .

If all else fails, lower your standards.
