Journal BarbaraHudson's Journal: I'm dismayed at how many of the old gang are gone ... 7

I took another poster's advice and went through my two dormant accounts and friended a bunch of my old friends. But looking at the date many of them made their last post or last journal entry, it looks like many of them are gone, probably for good.

On another note, I simply don't have time to read, never mind respond to, AC posts any more. I know how disappointed that will make a certain individual (and everyone else will be going YAY!!!! FINALLY!!!! :-)

So what's next? All I can say is that I guarantee it will probably be more interesting than anything I've journaled about so far. I just haven't quite decided where to start, because it's a bit more complicated than anything else I've written about to date.

  • It's too bad. I know of no other site that respects the sanctity of the indelible, un-editable comment as well as Slashdot does. If I do find one, I'm there in a New York second. This place isn't long for the world.

One of the reasons I stayed.

  • Sorry I haven't written you back sooner, but I'm not spending as much time online as I used to, either.

When you dropped out of the net, after a few months I tried googling your name in various Montreal suburbs, just to see if you were OK. Nothing came up at all, which was better than seeing your name in the obits, but I was still a bit concerned that your blindness was worse and permanent. I was definitely pleased to see your return.

I'm definitely glad you're not squandering limited vision or time arguing f

    • Thanks. I'm still alive and kicking, and in some ways better than ever. Even the woman at the customer service counter at my bank says I'm happier looking than she's ever seen me. I've learned a lot in the last couple of years. For example, embracing being outed in my own community last year, rather than running from it. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and as a side benefit I don't have to worry about what would happen if I were "outed" in any situation. It doesn't affect day-to-day interact

  • I, for one, am really glad to see you back.

I knew about the blindness becoming a bigger problem, then I slipped and fell off the 'Net for a bit, myself.

I tend toward Facebook for mindless drivel and contacting most of my family. As you may have noticed, I have the occasional post here, largely because the alternative (most of Teh Circle have shifted over to some M$ offering) bites. Those that shifted over there have said something a few years back about someone (SolomnDragon? Her Dave?) working on a more

    • Good to see you alive and kicking, and hope all is well. My right eye is good enough that, for many tasks, I don't even notice any problems. Except that color registration is really off now. I am SO color-blind. Finding brown dog turds in green grass is a real problem even during the day, green lights look yellow, and everyone tells me that the building I'm living in is pink with a sort of mustard-yellow trim, but to me it looks white (or light green, depending on the lighting) with green trim.
