Starcraft is quite possibly one of the best games ever. I wonder when this new version will be out?? If it's typical blizzard, we could be looking at another 2 years.

I remember waking up my roommates at 6 in the morning playing starcraft on the weekends (I used to be a hopeless addict).

    • I think I'll have to fire up broodwars for a few more games (and to re-aquaint myself with the story).

Interested in an online game maybe sunday night??
      • Yeah, that'd be cool, assuming I can find my starcraft and broodwars CD's. I'm pretty sure I know where it is, otherwise a trip to Kazaa will be in order :)

I should be home around 8:00.However I think some good season premires are on (like Alias) so we can't play for too long!! I should also be home afternoonish.
  • The remains of my life? You know, the ones I held on to after I got my cable modem and started playing Rollercoaster Tycoon and Warcraft II (I went retro) and Terrarium?

    There they go.

Where the hell am I going to find the time to do all this?

  • Rejected? I'm guessing someone else wrote in about it and its queued?

that is the only reasonable explanation. that's why my doom 3 story was rejected. (even though it took about 6 hours for it to show up on slashdot after they rejected my story.) /. will probably wait until after 8:00 to put it on the front page.
  • ...I won't be able to run it. Warcraft 3 is probably the last Blizzard game I'll ever be able to run, and then barely so. Sadly there's no machine in my future for at least a year....

I wonder, also, if it'll be another "multi-release" like the majority of Blizzard games? (meaning MacOS and Windows versions released at the same time on the same disc). Or will Blizzard abandon the platform? Or better yet will be be OS X only?

Ok, enough of the token Mac dork commentary.

  • I have not played video games regularly in 1 1/2 years. I have tired of television, and only watch good programming (with the exception of Dragonball Z.) I have found both a bar and a coffee shop at which I am relaxed and comfortable. I can talk to women I don't know and not make a complete fool of myself. It's only a matter of time before I can describe myself as a person in a stable relationship with a balanced set of interests.

Now I'll go back to playing games until 3 in the morning, getting into work late, and forgetting half of what I know about relating to people.

    Damn you Blizzard!

  • Addendum: hrm. Rejected? I'm guessing someone else wrote in about it and its queued?
Unlikely. You know better than that. You are a marked man, Mike and Timmy are on shift right now.
  • So would this be Warcraft IV or V? :)
    • Someone's never played star craft!

Hehe, I thought the same thing, which is why I got into star craft so late. Star Craft was one of the last truely innovative RTS game. Imagine warcraft with 3 races. Now imagine that ever unit in each race has no equal in the other race. The way buildings are build, where they can be placed, all completely different. The cost of units are completely different. One race it is really simple to make units, but they are all weak (you have to use sheer numbers to win), one race has really powerful units with shields, but they are expensive to make and take a long time to build, the other is average, but can shoot down air units.

Its really quite cool how the game was made, and is so successfully balanced.

Run out to your local gaming store, and pick up star craft & the expansion for like $20 and try it out. Its the best RTS you'll find (yeah, better than WC3).
