'Zactly. There are PILES of PHP and Perl snippet that filter quotes, or allow Unicode.
I have tried typing Russian (Cyrillic) and Persian (Arabic-derived) into the site in the past. Ouch.

There are ways [ascii.cl] to make a post readable. So what if Slashdot doesn't have unicode, plain old ASCII still works. The machines we work with are still very primitive and fickle. Think of of it as just another Italian car, or British actually, dripping oil all over the place. And please, put at least a minimal effort, and let's not blame the tools we have.

It wasn't worth the effort, I just cut and pasted from the manuscript. It's bad enough posting journals, I take a bit more care with them.
