J) > 100???

For me, the sweet spot woulda been 'round 25 unique kids, or 5 groups of kids (approx 5 kids in a group) instead of the big ol' goose egg I got.

  • 0 because i live in apartments. no kids around to speak of. yay!

halloween ruins a perfectly good night for making sweet love to your lady! kids don't usually like salty chocolate balls anyway.
    • 17 kids, because I live in a very small apartment building. Any larger and 0 would have come. I like living in a 4-unit building. It's nice being able to choose whether or not you want to give people candy.

  • Only 27 last night. We live on a cul de sac and only get young kids from the immediate neighbourhood. Last one was ~6:45. I'm sucking on a left over Hershey bar as I type this :)
  • Umm... didn't Em just have this poll? And if so, why is it gone??
    • SPOOKY!!!! ITs a Day after haloween mystery!

K? NOT BAD! Whats your candy budget, $1000? Oh wait, don't tell me you're the house giving away pennies!@??
      (or he accidentally erased it.)

  • We were all out of candy by about 7:45... Maybe because I was giving a couple of treats to each of the ghouls/boys.
  • the subject line is to be sung in gypsie's voice (ala mst3k) during the skit after "hired part 1" you know the skit "he's hired he's hired! i hope i don't get fired! i'm making selling chevroltes i'm bringing home good pay i just got hired!"

anyway... we live in an uber fashionable loft apartment building where children are not allowed unless they can be uber fashionable (like wearing black turtle necks and carry powerbooks)... but since most kids would rather act and dress like kids, they aren't allowed. sh
    • yeah, when I was livin' it up in a deluxe apartment, in the skyyyy-yyyyy (Friendship Heights, or as the lil' old laides at the farmers market say, "Da Heights, yo!") they made it known that trick-or-treating was expressely forbidden. Ha! Suckerz.

solemndragon did, however, go as a straight edger, last night. x's and everything.

Wow. Does she just naturally look 13? [tiddy boom!] I'll be here all week, tip the waitress, and enjoy the buffet!
  • We get a ton of kids and parents who are out. I'd say roughly 1% of them live here. The rest are hispanic folks who drive into the neighborhood. Most of them don't have much so were glad they come by and plan appropriately.

My brother-in-law lives near Guadalupe and they actually bus kids into his neighborhood- so I think he hits the > 100 mark.

But it is really interesting here as you see the dads in the parked cars pretty much everywhere along the block and then the moms and kids goi

  • somewhere around 20 or 30 maybe. only had about 8 last year. too much candy left over last year, barely enough this year.
    • Halloween is not a native German thing, though it has been slowly showing up on the radar.

This year we got the great big goose egg. Zip, nada. Though my in-laws (who were here for a visit) did see some kids not far from here in costume. It didn't occur to me to put our pumpkin in the outside window (hey, I was tired and stressed out, and anyway the street-facing window in the new apartment is a bit awkward for decoration), so maybe that's why we didn't get any visitors.

Last year we were in the States,

  • Which was fine since "zero" is the amount of candy I bought in preparation.
