Journal Zaranne's Journal: On my last week... 9

Well, I'm down to the home stretch, this is my last week at this job. Good. I need something new. I'm so ever-loving BORED with my life right now, I just want to scream. Even all my knitting is boring. The dogs are boring. Men are boring. Ugh.

But, things should change up a wee bit next week, hell, if anything, the drive will be completely different. Longer, but that's okay. I might have to invest in some books on CD, or even a foreign language (I took French in school, so if might be worthy to try it again).

Update again in a week. I'll let y'all know how I'm doing and if it was a good move!

On my last week...

  • FYI, you might also check the local library, many have tons of books on tape. Even better, if there is decent rapid transit or carpooling available, you can read/knit/whatever on the way to/from work.
    • I'd LOVE to do the latter (mass transit), but unfortunately, where I live, such is not the case. Los Angeles SUCKS royally for mass transit. And all because we SoCal's love our cars... :P

  • (Saw your reply to FK's photo contest JE)

There are places that they can be downloaded, though I don't know much about the selection. My daughter has grabbed a couple for her iPod. They tend to be much smaller than music files of the same duration (because lower quality is acceptable).

Referencing earlier JEs, I've yet to try the single scene (divorce still in progress); it just seems so strange. I've had a couple of recommendations of match.com, though, as nizo said.
    • I've also had a little success on MySpace.com, and it being free it's pretty cool. I may have to break down and get a subscription to Match.com.
      • I'll give that a look. I'd be interested in any tips or experiences that you would care to share. I've got a learning curve to re-climb. :-) Though I do know some things that I want to avoid this time around. No more explaining every little thing about computers multiple times (and getting blamed when the computer did what it was told, rather than what was wanted). I gave up on trying to explain that links did not have to be double-clicked years ago. ;-)

If you don't mind my asking, where in the LA
        • I grew up in the Inland Empire, but I now live in Thousand Oaks with my daughter. And up until Friday, I worked in Camarillo. My new job is in Van Nuys.

And my sig IS full of irony. It's a long story. Maybe I'll tell it to you some day.
          • You'll be driving the other way, then. The last few times I've been to visit, we flew into Burbank, rather than LAX. MUCH better drive. Once we flew into LAX and took a commuter plane to Ventura. That was interesting.

I like stories. :-) Might want to wait until you're sure I'm not a troll, though.
            • I can handle trolls...I'm a mod at a Star Wars site. I'm USED to trolls!!!
              • Yes, you would be very used to trolls. I mod a developer list on Yahoo Groups (currently at about 2600 members), and the worst we get are persistent spammers. And the occasional passionate discussion over the future of the library, but a warning on civility usually does the trick in those situations.

If you think the system is working, ask someone who's waiting for a prompt.
