An anonymous reader writes "Male flies are not the most romantic lovers in the animal world. They struggle to prolong sex much longer than female flies would prefer, says a new study.
They do so to prevent competing males from mating with the same female, says the study in the journal BMC Evolutionary Biology.
"The study clearly shows that the males and the females have conflicting desires over the length of copulation in Drosophila montana," says Anneli Hoikkala study co-author and evolutionary geneticist from the University of Jyvaskyla in Finland." Link to Original Source
