Wuff84 writes "For some reason, with the pending launch of SQL Server 2008, Microsoft seems to want a fight with the major database players like IBM and, especially, Oracle according to this story. Why, one wonders? Is it that with its own perception that the troubles with the EC and its security weaknesses settled, Microsoft believes that this is the time to start an attack? That is certainly what it looks like. Having identified licensing as a weak spot in Oracle's defences, Microsoft says it aims to exploit it. Hmm. It could live to regret this one thinks, but perhaps what it often lacks in common sense, Microsoft is more than willing to make up for with sheer front. It will be interesting to see how this one pans out."
