SlashNET will be having a forum with the XMMS Project (formerly known as x11amp) today, June 19th, at 20:00 UTC (16:00 EDT) in the #forum channel. Afterward, a log will be available here on our FTP server. Hope to see you there!

  • I like the list of rich features Xmms has and made me think of what lacks in x11amp. One of the things I wished x11amp had was a way to run it from a telnet session, without X for those times I just did not have the server fired up. I saw Xmms has key bindings, so I hope there is an easy way to hack it to allow a mpg123 command line mode.

    Making a playlist for Xmms is sweet: locate .mp3 > playlist

    The possibility of recording... yummy!
  • Hello? McFly? XMMS is what X11Amp has evolved into. Have you been in a deep, dark hole? Did you not read the IRC log? And XMMS isn't gonna have a console mode (also mentioned in the log).

    Please read before posting - makes you look like you have some idea what's going on. (sorry, but it had to be said...)
  • We thank everybody who attended the XMMS [xmms.org] forum and made it turn out as well as it did. If you were unable to attend, you can get the log from our FTP site:

    That directory also contains the logs of several past forums, including the mandrake [mandrake.net] forum.

  • Also wanting to avoid WinAMP's shadow somewhat. But also, like you said, avoiding PlayMedia's claim on anything named *amp.
  • One thing I really hate about reading logs in Netscape is that the plain text files have long lines that force me to scroll horizontally often. I generally save the file and from a shell window do a:

    fmt -s -w 79 log.txt | less

    to read it, but it would be nice if you could do this for us lazy people.

    Do some focus groups. You'll agree.

  • WHAT IS THE PROGLEM HERE DAVEO IRCED TO SLASHNET.ORG, AND WHEN HE TYPED "JOIN #FORUM" THERE WAS NOTHING. PLEASE EXPLAIN TO DAVEO WHY THAT WAS OFF-THE-TOPIC OR WHAT HAP[PENED TO THE ROOM? DID ANYONE ELSE SEE THIS PROBLEM ALSO?

  • Maybe because you got there too late? Did you read the part that said 16:00 EDT (that's 4:00 pm Eastern)? Also, I have a few suggestions for you... first, stop talking in the third person. Makes you sound like a moron. Second, there's a key on the left side of your keyboard, marked 'Caps Lock'. Press it ONCE - then never touch it again.
  • Guess I'll need to step up the work on LiveIce.... I need a GUI (any GTK experts out there ;-)
  • This is off topic, I know, but how do people feel about a posting ban on all first posters? i.e. ban that ip address for a fixed period.
