Linux Drivers for Cirque *Cat Touchpads? 4

kenhhk asks: "Hi, I'm interested in getting one of the Cirque touchpads in the *Cat line. Cirque tech support said they don't support Linux, but they think someone has written a driver somewhere for Linux. Would you guys know where I could reach them?"

  • The Linux Hardware Database? You might create a new entry for it when you find more information: http://lhd.datapower.com/ To find more information: google.com? freshmeat.net? sourceforge.net? Also, search usenet (sorry, can't think of any good groups off the top of my head). Hope that helps a little.

Last one I had (which my wife gave to one of her friends :+) didn't need any special Linux drivers - the think looked and acted like any other PS/2 or serial mouse, and worked fine on the standard two-button mouse drivers.

  • There is built-in support in XFree86 for touchpads - gives you the nifty features like touching to click and stuff..... With their newer models you lose the zoom in/out, scroll up/down left/right features (last time i checked), but they work great except for that.

I have a new model on one linux box, and an older no-frills model on my other linux box - and they work great. Especially good for the Sofa-Side-Computer, where the keyboard is on your lap and there's no place to roll a mouse......

One way to make your old car run better is to look up the price of a new model.

Working...
