Realistic Time (Score:2)

Can we think about a getting a better time? I would love to attend this and all, but Saturday from 8-10pm? Please. Can we make it a time that will not zonk out a whole night on a weekend? How about it just being a happy hour after office hours? Most people reading and likely to attend do not attend UAT and are not students. A time that respects the hectic lives of those with full-time jobs would be greatly appreciated.

  I would like to suggest meeting in Phoenix, downtown specifically. There are several fantastic lounge places that server food, beer, and wine all in a comfortable environment/setting. Supporting the downtown economy, especially during the light rail construction, is important to the area. If it works out with locations and such, this would get people to check out downtown, which many never have the chance to do, but really should.

    I know what UAT has to offer with the theatre, commons, labs, and other meeting areas, but I feel we should head to a bar or lounge instead.

      Bar? Many of us at UAT are underage, that means no bar. Lounge, sure I guess, but UAT is as good as venue as any!

        I once tried to get a few friends to go to a 2600 meeting, about 4 of us. We went to the last known location for the meetings, the cafe at the Biltmore location Borders (or Barnes and Noble? I forget which it is). And... we were the only ones there.

        They got kicked out, moved to UAT for 1 or 2 meetings, moved to Counter Culture until it closed then switched to Willow House. Check phx2600.org for the thread where they discuss the next meeting and it's location if you care to try again.

    Friday night would be a better time. It always helps to relax on the last weekday before the weekend officially starts. Saturday is usually busy with friends and family anyway. I say we spend time at UAT for the under age students, and for any of us who are 21+ continue the party at a bar or lounge later that evening.

      The intent is not simply to watch movies- I said I would put movies on in the theatre (for those interested)- and those wishing to simply chat are welcome to do so- I will also open up a lab area if we want to tinker with small bots, and of course people can simply run off to a bar if they feel so inclined-
      
      I fail to see what this has to do with students/non-student issues- Think of the school simply as a community gathering place that was offered up for free. Would a community center be better for you?

  The intent never was to make it feel like an 'us' and 'them' thing- I intend on extending invitations to may groups, such as the DC602, DC480, etc...

  Works for me as well. I am fine with meeting at UAT and then continuing the discussions over food and drink. Considering the fact we are likely to all meet at UAT first, we might as well make the call and say 4 Peaks since it is closer. Other worthwhile restaurants exist, but we can say 4 Peaks for now and then toss the question out there again and see if we want to go somewhere else instead. OK so it is the day of. From what I have gathered from the thread is that most in the group would like to meet at UAT to start off, and then as the night progresses move of to a venue more suited for sitting around and chatting with drinks if need be. Does that pretty much sum it up. As for the other locale after UAT, both 4 Peaks and BJ's have been brought up. Should we settle where to go once most of the people have shown up at UAT or decided here and now in the thread. Your thoughts on the matter.

Well after seeing the Hookah smokers, the xbox and wii players, the test ren-fest people in the courtyard. Where is anybody?. I tossed a quick email to lostboy hoping he or someone there is sitting on wireless watching slash but I havent seen any posts show up. We waited about 30 minutes but really didn't see anything. Still willing to show up if there was a sign. Currently I'm navigating while my friend is driving. Trolling the board :)
